Gunmen have killed a 19-year-old identified as Emmanuel Chinge in Irigwe Chiefdom, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The incident occurred on Sunday, June 29, 2026, at Nche-tahu in Nkien-whie District of Irigwe.
IYM confirms the killing
In a statement, the National Publicity Secretary of Irigwe Youth Movement (IYM), Joseph Yonkpa, confirmed the killing. He expressed deep concern over what he described as the deteriorating security situation in Irigwe land.
Attacks threaten lives and farms
The group alleged that repeated attacks were threatening lives and destroying farms, resulting in economic hardship for the community. It called for support for the communities affected by insecurity.

The IYM urged authorities to take immediate action to address the rising insecurity and protect residents from further attacks.
