Hausa Community in Ibadan Protests Ethnic Profiling

The Hausa community in Ibadan, Oyo State, staged a protest against ethnic profiling after weeks of heightened suspicion following the abduction of over 40 students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

Protest Against Ethnic Profiling

The protesters argued that it is wrong to label an entire ethnic group as criminals due to the actions of suspected kidnappers. They appealed to security agencies and the public to focus on apprehending actual criminals rather than targeting innocent residents based on their tribe or identity.

Law-Abiding Citizens

According to the protesters, Hausa residents in Ibadan are law-abiding Nigerians who also desire peace, safety, and justice. They emphasized that the actions of a few should not be used to stereotype the entire community.
