Jigawa Police Arrest 3 Suspected Armed Robbers

Security forces in Jigawa State have recorded another significant victory with the arrest of three individuals suspected of involvement in armed robbery and financial fraud.

Coordinated Operation Leads to Arrests

The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the successful operation, which was carried out on Saturday, January 10, 2026. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, the arrest was the result of a collaborative effort involving multiple security agencies.

The team comprised personnel from the Nigerian Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilante groups. This joint approach underscores the multi-agency strategy being employed to tackle crime in the state.

Suspects and Location of the Raid

The operation specifically targeted hideouts in the Sundumina District of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area. The security team raided locations including Bariki Fulani Settlement, Rugar Fulani, and Kwangara Village.

Three suspects were apprehended at the scene and are currently in police custody undergoing interrogation. The police have identified them as:

  • Adamu Abubakar, 30 years old
  • Sale Yakubu, 30 years old
  • Mamman Saidu, 17 years old

The suspects are alleged to have participated in armed robbery operations and financial fraud schemes that resulted in losses amounting to several thousand naira for their victims.

Part of a Broader Security Crackdown

This latest arrest is not an isolated event but part of an intensified security campaign across Jigawa State at the start of the new year. The police command has been actively conducting operations that have yielded numerous arrests and recoveries.

Just over a week earlier, on January 2, 2026, the command arrested seven suspects in various operations statewide. Recovered items from those raids included a motorcycle, window glasses, air conditioners, and quantities of illicit drugs.

Furthermore, on New Year's Day, January 1, 2026, a major coordinated operation led to the arrest of seventeen suspects. That group included alleged armed robbers, drug dealers, and vandals. The security forces also recovered firearms, narcotics, and various stolen properties during that raid.

The consistent operations highlight the command's renewed focus on dismantling criminal networks and improving safety for residents. The use of joint task forces, combining formal security agencies with local vigilante knowledge, appears to be a key tactic in these recent successes. The public has been encouraged to continue providing useful information to the security agencies to aid in further crime prevention.
