A quiet family in Kadoma has been torn apart by a shocking act of violence, leading to a complex police investigation and multiple arrests. The incident, which occurred on January 6, 2026, centers on allegations that a father took the life of his own son following a domestic dispute rooted in infidelity.
A Deadly Discovery and a Fatal Confrontation
The tragedy unfolded when 30-year-old Kudakwashe Harry returned to his home. To his horror, he reportedly found his 78-year-old father, Benjamin Harry, in a compromising situation with his 22-year-old wife, Evelyn Mashava. This discovery sparked an immediate and heated argument between father and son.
According to initial police reports and accounts published by H-Metro, the verbal clash turned physical and deadly. It is alleged that Benjamin Harry, in the heat of the moment, picked up an iron bar and struck his son. The blow proved fatal, leaving Kudakwashe dead from severe head injuries.
A Failed Cover-Up and Multiple Arrests
In the aftermath of the killing, a frantic attempt to conceal the crime was allegedly set in motion. Benjamin Harry reportedly sought assistance from Evelyn Mashava's brothers: 18-year-old Tongai Mavhurume and a 16-year-old minor. Claims suggest he offered livestock as compensation for their help.
The group is accused of trying to stage the scene to make the death look like a suicide. However, their plan quickly unraveled. Police were alerted after the body was discovered, and their investigation swiftly exposed the alleged plot. This led to the arrest of seven individuals, who were all remanded in custody under case number Kadoma Rural 27/1/26.
Those arrested include:
- Benjamin Harry (78), the accused father.
- Evelyn Mashava (22), the wife.
- Tongai Mavhurume (18), Evelyn's brother.
- A 16-year-old minor, also Evelyn's brother.
- Mike Hwata (36).
- William Grasham (34).
- Perfect Vembo (18).
Conflicting Stories and an Ongoing Investigation
As the case developed, conflicting narratives emerged, complicating the picture for investigators. An alternative version of events suggests that Perfect Vembo and William Grasham, who are described as Evelyn Mashava's former partners, were involved in a separate confrontation with Kudakwashe Harry on the same day.
Furthermore, Evelyn Mashava herself has claimed that her brothers intervened to protect her from alleged mistreatment by her husband. Despite these conflicting accounts, a key piece of evidence appears to support the initial story. A post-mortem examination confirmed that Kudakwashe Harry suffered significant head trauma consistent with being struck by an iron object.
The police investigation remains active as authorities work to piece together the exact sequence of events and motivations behind this family tragedy that has left the Kadoma community in shock.
