Katsina Police Arrest Six Suspects in Village Attack

The Katsina State Police Command has successfully apprehended six suspects in connection with a violent attack on residents of Keku village, located in Musawa Local Government Area. The arrest was announced in a statement issued by the command's spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Aliyu.

According to Aliyu, the incident occurred on May 27, 2026, at approximately 2:00 pm. The suspects allegedly used sticks and machetes to assault villagers, resulting in various degrees of injuries. However, a swift response by security operatives led to the arrest of the culprits, while the injured were promptly taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

“On Wednesday, 27th May 2026, at about 2:00 pm, a group of six men attacked residents of Keku Village, Musawa LGA, using sticks and machetes. The attack resulted in varying degrees of injuries to several villagers,” Aliyu stated.

“Following the receipt of the report, operatives responded swiftly to the scene and successfully arrested the following suspects: Dayyabu Salisu, 25 years old; Usama Mansur, 23 years; Yunusa Nura, 27 years; Abdulmumini Alka, 23 years; Buhari Suleiman, 27 years; and Abubakar Safiyanu, 27 years.”

Items recovered from the suspects include machetes, sticks, and motorcycles, which are now being held as evidence. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects conspired to disrupt the peaceful Sallah celebration and breach the relative peace in the area. The prompt intervention of the VCRU personnel prevented the situation from escalating further.

The injured victims are currently responding to treatment at a nearby hospital. The suspects will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, condemned the attack and reassured the public of the command's unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property. He reiterated the command's zero-tolerance policy towards thuggery, mob action, and any acts capable of disrupting public peace.
