Lagos PDP Faction Suspends Bode George, 23 Others

A faction of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has suspended former Deputy National Chairman Bode George and 23 other members. The suspension is due to alleged anti-party activities, as announced in a statement issued on Friday, May 29.

The statement, signed by Kayode Ogunbiyi, chairman of the party’s disciplinary committee in Lagos State, and committee secretary Desmond Agbo, indicated that the decision followed a review of petitions. These petitions accused the individuals of anti-party conduct and violations of the PDP constitution.

Disciplinary Committee Findings

The committee concluded that it could no longer tolerate actions that create division and disaffection within the party. According to the statement, the resolution was reached during a meeting held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, where various petitions were presented against certain notable personalities and other members.

“The decision to suspend George and other erring members was contained in the resolution of the meeting held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, where various petitions were presented against certain notable personalities and other members bordering on issues of anti-party activities and deliberate infractions of the PDP Constitution,” the statement read.

Previous Disciplinary Action

The committee also reviewed a prior disciplinary action taken against George by the National Executive Committee, which had suspended him from the party. The committee reaffirmed that George remains suspended as earlier pronounced.

Other party members were also affected by the disciplinary measure. The committee examined cases involving individuals allegedly working with rival political parties or participating in unauthorized political activities deemed harmful to the PDP’s interests.

Consequences of Suspension

The statement further noted that all suspended members will be barred from participating in party activities in Lagos State. They will not be permitted to represent the PDP in any official or unofficial capacity. The faction also warned that legal action could be taken against any suspended member found acting contrary to the party’s interests in the state.
