This decisive action follows a wave of serious sexual misconduct allegations that have dominated social media discussions in recent weeks.
Police Commissioner Takes Direct Action
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has personally directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti to handle the case. He has mandated the department to invite Pastor Okafor for formal questioning. Furthermore, the SCID is tasked with summoning alleged victims and key witnesses to provide official statements to aid the probe.
Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the directive. She noted that this investigation was initiated "despite the fact that no one has formally come forward to report" through official channels prior to the CP's order. This underscores that the police are acting primarily in response to significant public concern and widespread media reports.
A Cascade of Accusations from Multiple Women
The scandal erupted publicly when Nollywood actress Doris Ogala posted emotional videos on Instagram on 14 December 2025. She detailed a nine-year relationship with Okafor that began in 2017, accusing him of sexual misconduct, broken promises of marriage, and sharing explicit photographs. Ogala also claimed his actions contributed to the collapse of her previous marriage.
Other women have since come forward with similar stories. One of the most notable accusers is Okafor's former wife, Bessem Okafor, who has alleged infidelity, deception, and physical assault during their marriage. The allegations collectively paint a picture of manipulation and predatory behavior spanning nearly a decade.

To ensure a thorough investigation, PPRO Abimbola Adebisi revealed that she directly contacted a YouTuber who had interviewed alleged victims. This was done to obtain direct links to witnesses, facilitating their cooperation with the police.
