The Oyo State Police Command has made an arrest following a brutal attack in Tede, where a farmer lost his wrist during a violent altercation.
Violent Altercation Leads to Severe Injury
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, on Saturday, December 3, 2026, the incident involved a suspect identified as Sunday James and a victim named Benua Bukari.
Bukari, a farmer residing in Ologede Village, Tede, within the Atisbo Local Government Area, engaged in a physical fight with Sunday James. The confrontation escalated dramatically when James allegedly used a cutlass to sever the right wrist of Benua Bukari.
Police Swift Response and Arrest
Upon receiving the report, a team of police operatives from the Tede Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, promptly mobilized to the scene. Their swift action resulted in the arrest of Sunday James, who is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
The police also ensured the victim received immediate medical attention. Benua Bukari was rushed to a hospital and is presently undergoing treatment for his grievous injury.
Root of the Conflict and Official Warning
Preliminary investigation by the police reveals that the violent fight stemmed from a disagreement involving three girls who are residents of Ibudọ Kareem Village in Tede.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police for Oyo State Command, CP Femi Haruna, expressed strong displeasure. He has directed that the suspect be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
In the statement, the Command issued a strong warning to the public. It advised individuals to seek lawful, peaceful, and civil means of resolving disagreements and to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
