Police Arrest Man with Exhumed Human Head and Palms for Rituals in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a 43-year-old man, Idowu Ashafa, for allegedly possessing human parts that were exhumed from a grave, suspected to be intended for ritual purposes. The arrest occurred in Ido Itekun Village, Igbesa, following a routine patrol operation.

Details of the Arrest and Evidence

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the suspect was intercepted in the early hours of April 17, 2026. He was found carrying a nylon bag containing a fresh human head, two human palms, and other human remains. The patrol was led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Solotan Owolabi, under the supervision of the Area Commander, ACP Folashade Tanaruno.

Babaseyi confirmed in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Saturday that the tools used by the suspect to commit the crime have been recovered. Additionally, the scene of the exhumation was visited and documented by police operatives to gather further evidence.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation and potential prosecution. The police spokesperson emphasized the command's commitment to eradicating criminal activities from the state.
