Mentally Unstable Man Hacks Three Children to Death in Ondo Community
A man suspected to be mentally unstable has brutally murdered three children, including his own biological son, in a horrific machete attack in Okitipupa, Ondo State. The shocking domestic incident occurred on Tuesday, April 6, 2026, plunging the local community into deep grief and mourning.

The victims, all members of the same extended family, were attacked and killed with a machete inside their home. The deceased include a female student enrolled in the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) programme, a young boy identified as her cousin, and another boy who was the biological son of the suspected attacker. According to preliminary information gathered from residents, the suspect, a male relative believed to be mentally unstable, allegedly carried out the attack earlier in the day.
A distraught resident narrated: "Three children from the family of Baba Agbaye were brutally murdered in a shocking and tragic attack. The victims include a female student in JUPEB and two young boys. Among them were Baba Agbaye's biological daughter, the son of his elder brother's child, and the biological son of the suspected attacker." The resident added that the whole community is in a state of profound shock and disbelief.
Community Response and Investigation
Sources familiar with the incident revealed that the head of the family, Baba Agbaye, along with his wife and their youngest son, had gone to their oil farm earlier on Tuesday. On their way back, they reportedly encountered the suspect heading toward the Ayeka area. "When they met him and questioned him, he claimed he was coming from Baba Agbaye's house," a resident said. "They were unaware that he had already carried out the gruesome act."
The victims' bodies have since been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital, as authorities are expected to begin a thorough investigation into this tragic event. The community remains in mourning, with calls for increased awareness and support for mental health issues to prevent such devastating incidents in the future.
