Nigerian Man's N2 Million Transfer Error Goes Viral After Receiver's Honest Response
A Nigerian man has shared a heartwarming story online after he mistakenly sent N2 million instead of N200,000 during a social media giveaway, and the receiver's unexpected action has captured widespread attention.
The Costly Mistake and Immediate Alert
The man, identified as @educatedtug01 on X, was conducting a giveaway and intended to transfer N200,000 to the winner. However, in a slip during the transaction, he accidentally sent N2 million. Surprisingly, he did not notice the error until the recipient took action.
According to his post on X, the receiver did not just send a text message but called him directly to inform him about the overpayment. "I made a mistake with someone on the app while I was doing a giveaway. I accidentally sent 2 million naira instead of 200k. Funny enough, I didn't even notice, but he called me (not just a text) to let me know," the man wrote.
Refund and Gesture of Appreciation
After being alerted, the man provided his account details, and the receiver promptly refunded the full N2 million. In a show of gratitude, the sender then instructed the receiver to keep an extra N200,000 as a token of appreciation. "I sent him my account details, and he refunded the money. I told him to keep an extra 200k as a gesture of appreciation. Some people are still genuinely good," he added.
Mixed Reactions from Netizens
The post quickly went viral, sparking a flurry of reactions from users on X. Many praised the receiver's honesty, while others expressed amazement at the sender's lack of awareness about such a large sum leaving his account.

- @Judge_ace reflected: "I always pray to God to never let me get tempted to take the easy way, except there's goodness in it. Money is one tool the devil knows how to use best."
- @OnyekachiWilson questioned: "Lemme deviate: Please, did you just say 2million left your account and you didn't notice? Me that count my zeros like 100 times before making any transfer."
Other users, like @MRDAN131448 and @MrGaji, also chimed in with praise for the receiver's integrity, highlighting that such acts of honesty are commendable in today's digital age.

Additionally, another Nigerian lady cried out for help after receiving N1 million from a loan app when she only intended to borrow N100,000, detailing the challenges she faced in seeking a refund.
