Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted 380 rounds of military-grade 7.62mm RLA ammunition in Kaduna State. The agency also arrested a couple and another suspect in a separate drug operation.
Interception of Military-Grade Ammunition
According to a statement released on Sunday, May 31, 2026, by the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the ammunition was recovered from Sunusi Musa, a 30-year-old suspect. The interception occurred during a patrol along the Abuja–Kaduna highway near Jere on the same day. The suspect was transporting the ammunition to Katsina State. Babafemi stated, "The suspect and the exhibit have since been handed over to the appropriate security agency for further action."
Arrest of Couple and Seizure of Drugs
In another operation, NDLEA operatives arrested a couple, Musa Sunday and Mercy Sunday, along with another suspect, Salomi Ezekiel, 38, on Sunday, May 24. The arrests followed the seizure of 100 jumbo bags of skunk, with a gross weight of 1,246 kilograms, from their residence in the Gonin Gora area of Kaduna. The agency continues to intensify efforts to combat drug trafficking and illegal possession of ammunition in the region.
