The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, has announced the arrest of 210 suspects for various offences, including vandalism, fraud, and illegal mining, over the past one and a half years.
State Commandant Mrs. Remilekun Ekundayo disclosed this on Tuesday during a familiarisation visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, in Abeokuta. She stated that the command recovered over N23 million for victims in fraud-related cases during the same period.
Ekundayo added that more than 1,700 disputes were resolved through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms. She emphasised that the command has sustained intelligence-driven operations aimed at preventing criminal activities, protecting pipelines, railway corridors, and power installations across the state.
She noted that these achievements reflect the corps' commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and stressed that security remains a shared responsibility. Ekundayo called for stronger collaboration with the media to enhance public awareness and security consciousness in Ogun.
“In matters of security, your role becomes even more strategic and impactful,” she told journalists, adding that the NSCDC is mandated to protect critical national assets, prevent vandalism and economic sabotage, and support disaster management and emergency response.
Earlier, the Chairman of the NUJ in the state, Wale Olanrewaju, assured the command of continued collaboration through accurate and timely reporting on security issues.
