The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested five suspects, including the 21-year-old son of slain billionaire Chief Godwin Chinedu Lucky Adimike, in connection with his brutal stabbing death at his residence in Abuja's upscale Guzape district.
Murder of a Business Tycoon
Chief Adimike, a 53-year-old multi-billionaire businessman and philanthropist, was found dead in a pool of blood at his home on Hassan Adamu Street in the early hours of Friday, May 15, 2026. Known as Egonaejeije Na Awka-Etiti, he was a prominent electronics importer and real estate mogul, widely respected for his charitable work in his hometown of Awka-Etiti, Anambra State.
Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh confirmed that officers responded to a distress call and rushed the victim to Karu General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The five suspects in custody include the deceased's son, a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who allegedly managed some of his father's real estate ventures in Abuja.
Allegations of a Money Dispute
Unverified social media reports claim that the son returned home around 1:00 AM from a nightclub with two women, leading to a heated argument with his father over financial issues. The son reportedly accused his father of being stingy, citing that friends' less affluent fathers bought cars for their children. The billionaire allegedly responded by accusing his son of financial mismanagement and extravagance. The altercation is said to have turned violent, with the son stabbing his father three times in front of the female guests.
However, the Adimike family has strongly rejected these claims, describing them as misleading and unverified. In an official statement, the family urged the public to exercise restraint and await the findings of the ongoing police investigation. The statement read: "The Adimike Family wishes to strongly caution the public against the growing wave of misinformation, speculation and false narratives being circulated across social media regarding the tragic circumstances surrounding his death."

Authorities have not yet filed formal charges against any suspect, and police have not publicly confirmed the motive or details circulating online. The FCT Police Command has assured the public that forensic analysis is ongoing at the cordoned-off Guzape apartment, and all suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
