The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a 32-year-old security guard, Friday Ayuba, for allegedly stealing motor spare parts belonging to his employer at Ita-Asu Village, via Owode-Egba. The arrest was carried out by operatives of the Owode-Egba Division.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, disclosed that the arrest followed a report received at the Owode-Egba Division on May 30, 2026, at about 6:00 p.m. from the manager of the affected company. The manager reported that Ayuba had earlier been apprehended by operatives of the Quick Response Squad (QRS) at the Sagamu Interchange axis along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while allegedly attempting to transport company property without authorization.
Preliminary Investigations
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ayuba, employed as a security guard by the company, was found in possession of several motor spare parts suspected to have been unlawfully removed from the company's premises. Recovered items included four air controls, two air boosters, two engine seats, and two fuel pumps, all identified as company property.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the theft. Detectives visited the scene for further investigations and documentation, while the recovered items were secured as exhibits. The suspect remains in police custody, and the police stated he would be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
Police Commissioner's Reaction
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, commended the vigilance of the company's management and the swift response of the QRS and Owode-Egba Division officers. Their coordinated efforts led to the recovery of the stolen items and the arrest of the suspect.
Ojajuni reaffirmed the command's commitment to safeguarding businesses, critical assets, and residents across the state through intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention strategies. He urged employers and the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation or through the Ogun State Police Command's emergency channels.
