The Ogun State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing intelligence-driven operations across Sango-Ota, Owode-Egba, and Agbado, resulting in the arrest of seven suspects connected to armed robbery, housebreaking, stealing, conspiracy, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The Command spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated that the coordinated operations were carried out with speed, professionalism, and support from the public, underscoring the Command's dedication to maintaining safety and security throughout the state.
Arrests in Sango-Ota
Operatives from the Sango-Ota Division apprehended Pelumi Akintande (21), Mojeed Sanusi (28), and Mubarak Lateef (17) following a reported armed robbery in the Alasia community. The suspects allegedly participated in an attack on a resident, during which valuables were forcibly taken. Acting on credible intelligence, police tracked and arrested the suspects, recovering a locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol and one expended cartridge believed to have been used in the crime. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing gang members.
Owode-Egba Operations
In a separate operation, operatives from the Owode-Egba Division arrested Damilare Makanjuola (22) for housebreaking and stealing in Ofada. He was caught after scaling a fence to unlawfully enter a shop. Further investigations linked him to other burglaries in Sun City Estate, Ofada, where electrical items, cash exceeding ₦100,000, and other valuables were stolen. Recovered items have been secured as evidence, and investigations continue.
Additionally, the same division arrested Tijani Jubril (28) and Ezra Modi (22) for conspiracy and stealing in Treasure Island Estate, Awo Village. The suspects were intercepted while attempting to dispose of stolen electrical appliances concealed in a sack, which had been removed from a residential building. All stolen items were recovered intact.
Agbado Incident
In Agbado, operatives arrested Waris Adebesin (22) for conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and alleged threats of violence. He was found armed with a knife, causing tension and disrupting activities near a secondary school. Police intervention prevented escalation, restored calm, and ensured the safety of students and residents. The knife was recovered at the scene.
DSP Babaseyi confirmed that all suspects are in custody undergoing discreet investigation, while efforts continue to apprehend other individuals linked to the incidents. Recovered exhibits have been properly documented for evidentiary purposes.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism, swift response, and discipline. He also thanked the public for providing timely information that contributed to the successes. The Command assured residents that these operations are part of a sustained statewide security strategy aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring lasting peace across Ogun State. It urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
