Ogun Police Arrest Two Armed Robbers, Hunt Kidnappers

The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended two individuals suspected of armed robbery and recovered three stolen vehicles in the Ifo and Sango areas. The suspects, Mohammed Usman, 48, also known as “Mandela,” and Abiodun Ogunojukan, 38, were taken into custody on May 10, 2026. Their capture resulted from sustained intelligence-led investigations into reported cases of armed robbery and vehicle snatching within those divisional areas.

Arrest and Recovery Operations

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed in a statement that operatives from the Ifo and Sango divisions, led by Divisional Police Officers CSP Kamorudeen Olabisi (Ifo) and CSP Idowu G. Olatunji (Sango), conducted a raid on a criminal hideout in the Adeleye area of Itele, Ota, where stolen vehicles were allegedly concealed. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are part of a larger criminal syndicate involved in armed robbery and vehicle theft across Ogun State and neighboring regions.

Based on further intelligence, operatives on May 11, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., traced and arrested another suspect identified only as Ilasa at the Sango-Ota Under Bridge. The suspect reportedly confessed to his involvement in the crimes and provided useful information to assist police efforts in tracking down fleeing members of the syndicate and recovering additional stolen vehicles.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and intelligence-driven policing approach. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and sustaining the crackdown on criminal activities across the state.

Manhunt for Kidnappers

Meanwhile, the command has launched a manhunt for kidnappers who abducted three members of a family from their residence in Ijebu-Ode. Police operatives have intensified tactical operations aimed at rescuing the victims and reuniting them with their family. The gunmen, suspected to be bandits numbering about 15, reportedly stormed Ipojo Golden Estate in Oke-Eri with sophisticated weapons and abducted two women and a man from the same family.

Eyewitnesses reported that the kidnappers invaded the residence, searched the building, and subsequently whisked away the victims. In response, the Ogun State Police Command confirmed that efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi stated that the command has stepped up tactical operations to rescue the abducted persons and arrest those responsible for the attack. He urged residents to remain calm and reiterated the command’s determination to combat kidnapping and ensure the protection of lives and property across the state.
