The Ogun State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough in its fight against crime, arresting six suspects linked to arms trafficking, theft, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property. The arrests came after a series of coordinated, intelligence-led operations across Abeokuta, Wasimi, and Ibafo.
Coordinated Raids Disrupt Criminal Networks
Operations were carried out by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, and the Ibafo Division. During the raids, law enforcement officers recovered one pump-action rifle, one locally fabricated pistol, two live cartridges, one expended cartridge, five generators, and nine Android mobile phones believed to have been stolen. The police stated that these operations successfully disrupted multiple criminal networks operating within the state.
Suspects and Ongoing Investigations
Among those arrested were individuals allegedly involved in a generator theft syndicate, an illegal arms network, and a vehicle parts theft ring. The command confirmed that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal groups who are still at large. All suspects will be charged in court once the investigations are concluded.
