Men of the Ondo State Police Command have taken a 55-year-old man into custody over serious allegations of sexual misconduct with a child.
Suspect in Custody Following Family Report
The suspect, identified as Ademola Joshua, was arrested for allegedly impregnating a 15-year-old minor. The incident came to light after a family member, one Adewale from Ilara-Mokin, reported the case to the police on January 4th.
According to the police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the complainant stated that Joshua had been involved in unlawful sexual activities with his sister's daughter. The pregnancy of the young victim prompted family inquiries, which ultimately uncovered the alleged abuse.
GBV Unit Handles Investigation
Upon receiving what was described as a disturbing report, the police command promptly referred the matter to its specialized Gender-Based Violence (GBV) unit. This unit is now conducting a discreet and thorough investigation into the allegations.
Ademola Joshua remains in police custody as investigations continue. The police have confirmed that he will be formally charged in court once the investigation is concluded.
