Oyo Police Arrest Three, Recover Firearm, Cables

The Oyo State Police Command has recorded another significant achievement in its ongoing fight against crime. Operatives arrested three suspects and recovered a locally fabricated firearm, vandalised cables, and other suspected stolen items. The breakthrough followed a complaint by 42-year-old Akanni Hamsat, a resident of Bara Apaara, Oyo, who reported the theft of his welding machine from his shop. His investigation led him to a scrap shop in the area.

Police Raid and Arrests

Acting on the information, police operatives from the Durbar Division swiftly raided the scrap shop. They arrested the owner, 30-year-old Suhaib Abdulwahab of Akunlemu Area, Oyo. A search of the premises uncovered a locally fabricated pistol, armour cables belonging to NTA Oyo that had been reported vandalised on 21 May 2026, and several car air-conditioning components believed to be stolen.

Further Apprehensions

During the investigation, two additional suspects were arrested: Kabiril Mustapha and Abdullah Abdullah, both aged 25 and also from Akunlemu Area, Oyo. They are believed to be connected to the crimes. The recovered exhibits have been taken into police custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects' involvement and identify possible accomplices. The suspects are cooperating with investigators.
