The Oyo State Police Command has officially refuted reports circulating on social media that the abducted students, pupils, and teacher in Orire Local Government Area have been rescued. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Command clarified that no such rescue has taken place.
Police Statement on Rescue Rumours
The statement, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, described the reports as false and urged the public to disregard them. The Command emphasized that security operatives are actively conducting coordinated operations to ensure the safe return of the victims and to apprehend the perpetrators.

According to the police, joint security teams remain engaged in intensive efforts within the affected area as part of the rescue mission. The Command warned that the spread of misinformation could undermine these operations and cause unnecessary panic.
“The Command hereby debunks the rumour currently circulating that the victims have been rescued. Members of the public are urged to remain calm, support the ongoing efforts of the joint security team, and verify every piece of information before sharing it,” the statement read.
Appeal for Public Cooperation
Residents have been advised to remain calm and assist security agencies rather than circulate unverified claims that could escalate tension. The police noted that false information diverts operational attention from critical rescue efforts.
Authorities also cautioned against the dissemination of fake news, stressing that only official updates will be released as the situation develops.
