The Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, alongside the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara, has paid a condolence visit to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, following a recent kidnapping incident in the state. The party made this known on Monday via its official X handle.
Delegation Visits Ibadan
The delegation visited Ibadan to commiserate with the governor over the abduction and killing of teachers and pupils in Oyo State. During the visit, the PDP leadership expressed sympathy with the state government and the affected families, describing the incident as tragic and deeply disturbing. The party leaders said the visit was to show solidarity with the government and people of Oyo State during this difficult period, while also acknowledging the security challenges that led to the attack.
Governor Receives Delegation
Governor Makinde received the delegation at the Government House in Ibadan. It is worth recalling that Makinde had confirmed the abduction of seven teachers during an attack on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State by suspected bandits. The governor disclosed this last week during a press briefing held at his private residence in Kolapo Ishola Estate, Ibadan, where he provided an update on the security situation following the attack on Community High School, Ahoro-Ẹ̀sínẹ̀lẹ̀, L.A. Basic School, Ahoro-Ẹ̀sínẹ̀lẹ̀, and First Baptist Church Nursery and Primary School, Yáwọ́ta.
The governor further revealed that one of the abducted teachers was reportedly killed while in captivity, according to a viral video currently circulating on social media. The PDP leaders condemned the attack and called for enhanced security measures to protect citizens, especially in educational institutions.
