The Delta State Police Command has made a startling arrest after discovering a firearm cleverly hidden inside an ordinary loaf of bread during a routine security operation in Asaba.
Police Intercept Suspicious Individual
On November 6, 2025, at approximately 8:45 AM, officers from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) were conducting their regular stop-and-search duties at Koka Roundabout in Asaba when they encountered a young man whose behavior immediately raised red flags.
The suspect's nervous demeanor and evasive responses prompted the police operatives to conduct a more thorough examination of his belongings. During this search, they made an unexpected discovery concealed within what appeared to be an innocent food item.
Ingenious Concealment Method Uncovered
The police team uncovered a fabricated Beretta pistol carefully hidden inside a standard loaf of bread. This unusual hiding method demonstrated the suspect's attempt to bypass security measures using everyday items that wouldn't typically attract suspicion.
The suspect was immediately identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, a 24-year-old resident of Ogbeowele Quarters, located behind General Hospital in Asaba. He was promptly taken into police custody following the discovery of the weapon.
Ongoing Investigation and Police Response
According to police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe, the recovered weapon has been secured as evidence while investigations continue. Authorities are working to determine the suspect's potential involvement in recent cases of armed robbery and kidnapping within Asaba and surrounding communities.
