The Adamawa State Police Command has made a significant arrest, capturing three young men suspected to be part of the infamous criminal network known as the 'Shilla Boys.' The suspects were apprehended for their alleged involvement in a series of serious crimes, including armed robbery and housebreaking, within the Yola North Local Government Area.

Coordinated Dawn Raid Leads to Arrest

According to official reports, the arrest occurred in the early hours of Monday, January 5, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m. The operation was a direct result of effective collaboration between law enforcement and alert members of the local community in Nassarawo Ward, Jimeta.

The suspects, identified as Auwal Inusa, Huzaifa Ahmed, and Lukman Abdullahi, are all 19-year-old residents of the area. Police sources state that the group, armed with dangerous weapons like cutlasses, daggers, and knives, forcefully invaded a home along Nassarawo. They are accused of stealing valuable items from the occupants.

Community Vigilance Thwarts Crime

The successful operation hinged on the vigilance of local residents. Community members, having been alerted to suspicious activities around the neighbourhood, intervened directly. Their brave actions led to the immediate arrest of three of the four suspects involved. One accomplice, however, managed to evade capture and flee the scene.

Following the arrest, police recovered several items believed to be connected to the crime. The recovered exhibits include:

  • Two mobile phones
  • One power bank
  • One cutlass
  • Two knives

Police Commissioner Praises Public Partnership

The Commissioner of Police for Adamawa State, Dankombo Morris, highly commended the residents for their alertness and active role in preventing crime. He described the arrest as a clear testament to the effectiveness of the community policing model being championed by the force.

CP Morris urged the public to sustain this crucial partnership with security agencies. He emphasized the importance of promptly reporting any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station to help maintain safety and security.

The police authorities have confirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing. Upon completion of the probe, the three suspects will be arraigned in court to face charges for their alleged crimes.
