Police Investigate Acid Attack on Teen in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into a disturbing incident where a teenage boy was allegedly attacked with a corrosive substance.

Details of the Alleged Assault

According to the police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the victim, 17-year-old Walid Mohammed, reported the attack at the Shagari Division Headquarters. The young man stated he was on his way to a mosque in the Shagari Quarters of Yola South Local Government Area on January 14, 2026, when he was assaulted.

Nguroje, in a statement released on Thursday, January 15, 2026, identified the alleged perpetrator as Idris Hamza, a resident of the same Shagari area. The substance used in the attack is suspected to be acid.

Immediate Police Response and Medical Care

The police response was swift following the victim's report. Walid Mohammed was rushed to a hospital for urgent medical treatment, where he remains as he recovers from his injuries.

Concurrently, law enforcement officers moved to apprehend the suspect. Idris Hamza was taken into custody and is currently being held in connection with the serious allegation.

High-Level Directive for Thorough Probe

Demonstrating the seriousness with which the command views the case, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the investigation.
