A tragic road accident in Taraba State has claimed the lives of at least nine people, including the wife and two children of a serving soldier. The incident occurred on April 21, 2026, at Kabarin Bature village in Gashaka Local Government Area.

According to security and local sources, the collision involved a fuel tanker and a passenger vehicle. The impact was severe, resulting in the immediate death of seven individuals at the scene. Six other victims sustained injuries and were rushed to the General Hospital in Bali for medical attention. However, two of the injured later succumbed to their injuries, bringing the total death toll to nine.

Victims Identified

Among the deceased were the wife and two children of a soldier currently deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Buratai under Operation HADIN KAI. The family was traveling in the passenger vehicle at the time of the crash. The bodies of all victims have been deposited at the hospital mortuary pending further formalities.
