A 20-year-old woman from Bikita, Zimbabwe has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being convicted of raping her husband's 15-year-old half-brother. The sentencing was handed down by Magistrate Innocent Bepura at the Masvingo Regional Court on May 21, 2026.
The woman had pleaded not guilty to aggravated indecent assault but was found guilty following a full trial. According to TellZim, the prosecution detailed that the incident occurred in February 2026. The victim had visited his brother's home in Soma Village, Bikita, to request money for sports activities. His brother was not present at the time.
Prosecutor Nixon Chamisa stated, "The accused invited the boy to stay the night, assuring him that her husband would return the following day." The court heard that the woman prepared a bed for the boy in the dining room that evening. Later, she returned, showed him pornographic videos on her phone, and fondled him. The prosecution further alleged that she went to her bedroom, returned wearing only underwear, and dragged the boy into her room, where she raped him.
The prosecution also told the court that the woman threatened the boy the next morning, claiming her husband had a history of violence at work and would kill him if he spoke out. The boy later confided in his aunt, who beat him and instructed him to remain silent. His aunt then contacted his mother to collect him. Once in his mother's care, the boy disclosed everything. Despite opposition from other relatives to involve the police, the mother reported the matter.
In her defense, the woman denied the charges and claimed the boy initiated the contact. She argued that she gave in because she had been "sex-starved" during her husband's month-long absence. Magistrate Bepura rejected her defense and sentenced her to 15 years in prison.
