Witness Details Horrific Iron Rod Assault at Ozoro 'Raping Festival'
A Nigerian woman, identified as Ese, has come forward with a harrowing account of a past incident during what she describes as a 'raping festival' in Ozoro, Delta State. Her testimony adds to the growing public outrage over videos circulating on social media depicting sexual assaults on young women in the community.
Chilling Account of Past Brutality
In a video shared online, Ese recounted an event from approximately eight or nine years ago, when she was still in secondary school. She alleged that during the festival, men inserted an iron rod into the private part of her pastor's daughter. According to her, the men entered the pastor's house under the pretext of pursuing someone who had taken a compound, then forcibly took the girl outside to commit the act.
"If you think you have seen the worst video from the Ozoro raping festival, I can bet with my life you haven't," Ese stated. "They inserted iron rod inside my pastor's daughter's private part. This was like eight or nine years ago."
Protecting the Victim's Identity
Ese mentioned that she knows the young lady involved but has chosen not to disclose her name or the church to protect her privacy, believing the victim remains traumatized by the incident. She emphasized the diabolic nature of the festival, noting it occurs without prior public notice, typically once every thirty to fifty years, making it difficult for authorities to intervene proactively.
Additional Incidents and Arrests
She also shared that the rampaging men had previously attempted to sexually assault two of her sister's friends during the festival but were chased away by her father, a retired military officer. Meanwhile, recent videos of similar assaults have led to public outcry, resulting in the arrest of fifteen persons in connection with the crimes. The community of Ozoro has been in the news for days as these allegations surface, sparking calls for justice and an end to such traditions.
The ongoing investigations highlight the urgent need for security measures and cultural reforms to prevent such atrocities in the future.
