Two Women Banned from All UK Hotels After Trashing Bournemouth Property

Two teenagers have been banned from every pub, bar, nightclub, and hotel across the United Kingdom following a destructive incident at a hotel in Bournemouth that resulted in significant financial and reputational harm. Kera McKeown and Larisa Sumovskaja, both aged 19, received the sweeping prohibition after admitting to charges of criminal damage and affray in court.

Details of the Destructive Incident

The court heard that in April of last year, McKeown and Sumovskaja, who were not guests at the Trouville Hotel, entered the premises with a friend, Jasmine Orchard. After being asked to leave, the pair unleashed a wave of chaos and violence that left staff traumatized and the property damaged.

Prosecutor Tara Olney detailed the extent of the devastation, noting that the hotel suffered approximately £4,000 in repair costs, including refunds issued to disturbed guests. The incident also caused severe reputational damage, impacting future bookings and the establishment's standing in the community.

Violent Behavior and Threats

During the altercation, McKeown threatened a receptionist by stating, "I will punch you up," before spitting at her and hurling various items, including vases, a computer screen, and a phone. One of these projectiles struck a staff member, adding to the physical and emotional distress.

Sumovskaja, for her part, picked up a fire extinguisher because she "thought it would be funny to spray someone with it." Although she did not deploy it, McKeown later threw the extinguisher at hotel staff, escalating the danger and disorder.

Court Proceedings and Judicial Warnings

District Judge Orla Austin condemned the behavior as "disgraceful" and emphasized that the defendants had narrowly avoided immediate imprisonment. Reviewing footage of the incident, the judge remarked, "It's very clear from the footage it was very distressing to the staff. It is a custodial offence but I am just persuaded to suspend it."

Judge Austin issued a stern warning to both women, stating, "It is the last chance I will give you so I need you both to understand. You are both in quite a serious situation now, no more trouble whatsoever because if there is you leave me with no other option but to send you to prison."

Sentences and Additional Penalties

Instead of jail time, McKeown and Sumovskaja were each handed 12-week prison sentences suspended for 12 months. They were also ordered to pay £350 in restitution. Additionally, Sumovskaja was required to complete 15 rehabilitation activity days and attend 12 mental health sessions as part of her sentence.

The court imposed a six-month ban prohibiting both women from entering any pub, bar, nightclub, or hotel in the UK, except for work-related purposes. Judge Austin acknowledged the social impact, noting, "I recognise your social life is going to be significantly curtailed but that's the punishment so don't take any chances."

History of Previous Incidents

The court also revealed that McKeown and Sumovskaja had been involved in prior disturbances, including attacks on nightclub staff after being removed for intoxication and failing to pay a taxi fare. These previous incidents contributed to the court's decision to impose strict penalties and warnings.

Their co-defendant, Jasmine Orchard, appeared in court earlier and received a 12-month conditional discharge along with an order to pay £111 in costs, highlighting the varying degrees of involvement and consequences in the case.
