The Yobe State Police Command has apprehended nine suspects in connection with drug-related offences and robbery incidents in the Fika and Damaturu local council areas. The arrests are part of ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal elements and ensure public safety across the state's 17 local councils.

Market Invasion in Fika

On the same date at around 3:00 a.m., the Divisional Police Headquarters in Fika received a distress call about groups of youths invading Ngalda Market, engaging in intimidation, public disturbance, and robbery. Patrol teams were swiftly mobilised, leading to the arrest of seven suspects.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly pursued teenage girls without provocation, causing panic among traders and residents. Innocent traders fled the market, and goods were reportedly looted and vandalised using sticks and cutlasses.

Ongoing Investigations

Police spokesperson Abdulkarim confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify the masterminds behind the attack and apprehend other fleeing suspects. Commissioner of Police Usman Jibrin reiterated the command's zero tolerance for youth hooliganism, drug trafficking, substance abuse, and other criminal activities. He directed officers to remain professional and committed to maintaining peace and public safety across the state.
