The Yobe State Police Command has apprehended a 26-year-old man on allegations of defiling his eight-year-old sister in Potiskum Local Government Area. Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed that the incident was reported at approximately 1530 hours on June 22 at the Potiskum Division by Musa Abdullahi of Sabon Layi area.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
The suspect, Abdullahi Musa, 26, a resident of Dogo Nini area in Potiskum, is accused of luring his younger sister, Hajara Umar, 8, into his room where the alleged offence occurred. According to the police, the suspect also issued threats to the victim in an attempt to prevent her from reporting the incident.
Following the complaint, police operatives visited and documented the scene of the crime, and the suspect was promptly arrested. Both the victim and the suspect were taken to the Yobe State Specialist Hospital for medical examination.
Investigation Underway
The command stated that the case is under investigation pending the outcome of medical reports. Once completed, the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action. Authorities have assured that justice will be pursued in accordance with the law.
