Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ogun State have apprehended a 49-year-old man for the alleged storage of a massive quantity of cannabis sativa in Abeokuta. This arrest forms part of the agency's intensified crackdown on illicit drug trafficking within the state.
Intelligence-Led Operation Uncovers Drug Warehouse
Acting on specific intelligence, NDLEA officers conducted a targeted operation in the Rounda area of Abeokuta on December 28, 2025. The raid, which commenced at about 10:00 pm, led them to a warehouse suspected of being used for stockpiling illegal substances.
During a thorough search of the premises, the operatives made a significant discovery. They found a large consignment of cannabis sativa, weighing 347 kilograms, cleverly concealed inside a Honda Ridgeline pickup vehicle parked at the location.

The suspect, identified as Fatokun Rahmon, was arrested at the scene in connection with the illicit drugs. The agency's spokesperson in Ogun State, Musa Harris, confirmed the details of the operation in a statement issued in Abeokuta.
Harris emphasized that the successful operation underscores the Command's unwavering commitment to suppressing the trade and storage of illicit drugs in Ogun State. He reiterated the agency's resolve to maintain this aggressive momentum in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.

The agency reported the seizure of approximately 6,060.72 kilograms and 2,655.75 litres of various illicit substances over the course of the year. This enforcement drive also resulted in the arrest of 760 suspects involved in drug-related crimes.
Beyond arrests and seizures, the Command highlighted its rehabilitation efforts, providing counselling and rehabilitation support to 316 drug users. The legal arm of their operations proved equally potent, securing 159 convictions, with offenders receiving various prison sentences.
