Historic Promotion Ceremony in Abuja

In a significant event held over the weekend in Abuja, the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, decorated a total of 733 officers. These personnel benefited from the 2025 senior promotion examination conducted by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board (CDCFIB).

The Controller of the FFS FCT Command, Suleiman M. Anas, presided over the decoration ceremony. He emphasized that the promotions serve as a crucial morale booster and directly enhance the service's capacity to protect lives and property.

A Call for Enhanced Efficiency and Professionalism

Addressing the newly promoted and decorated officers, Controller Anas delivered a clear charge. He urged them to respond swiftly to fire outbreaks and other emergencies, demonstrating unwavering efficiency and professionalism.

"With this additional morale booster, our response to fires and emergencies will be swifter," Anas stated. He reminded the officers that as firemen, they must live up to public expectations and uphold the constitutional mandate of the FFS.

Expressing gratitude for the support from the Controller General of the FFS, Samuel-Olumode Adeyemi, Anas highlighted the scale of the promotion. "This is the highest number of beneficiaries of a promotion we have had since the inception of this Command," he noted.

Breakdown of Promotions and Public Assurance

The promotions covered various ranks within the service, including:

  • Three Chief Superintendents elevated to Assistant Controllers.
  • Thirty-six Superintendents promoted to Chief Superintendents.
  • Several other officers across different ranks.

Controller Anas used the occasion to assure residents of the FCT of the service's readiness. He urged the public to promptly call the FFS emergency numbers in the event of any fire outbreak or emergency, reinforcing the critical link between community alertness and effective response.

He left the promoted officers with a weighty reminder of their increased responsibility, quoting the adage, "To whom much is given, much is expected."

Officials Hail Promotion as Divine Favour

Deputy Controller Abdulganiyu Momodu also congratulated the officers. He described the event as a moment to be thankful to God, acknowledging that "promotion comes from the Almighty."

Momodu encouraged the officers to view their new ranks not just as a personal achievement, but as an opportunity to enhance their service to the government and the community. The ceremony underscored the administration's commitment to motivating personnel in the nation's emergency services for improved public safety.
