Adamawa Police Rescue Three Teen Girls, Arrest Two Women in Child Trafficking Bust

The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully intervened in a suspected child trafficking case, rescuing three teenage girls and arresting two women allegedly involved in the illicit operation. According to police reports, the minors were deceived with false promises of employment, highlighting a disturbing pattern of exploitation targeting vulnerable youth.

Police Operation Uncovers Trafficking Plot

Acting on credible intelligence, operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) intercepted the three teenagers on February 17, 2026, at the Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park in Yola. The rescued girls have been identified as Naomi Linus, aged 14; Agnes Thomas, aged 16; and Patience Justine, aged 15. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects lured the minors to Yola under the guise of securing domestic jobs, with plans to transport them to Abuja for further exploitation.

Police authorities described the arrangement as highly suspicious and consistent with established patterns of child trafficking and exploitation. The swift action by law enforcement prevented the potential trafficking of these teenagers, underscoring the importance of proactive policing in combating such crimes.

Suspects Identified and Investigations Ongoing

Confirming the arrests, the command's spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, named the two women in custody as Hasiya Yuguda, 35, from the NEPA area in Jimeta, Yola North, and Ummulkhairi Abubakar, 40, from Wuro-Hausa, Yola South. Further investigations have also implicated Simon Boniface, 38, of Bitakoyali in Zing Local Government Area, Taraba State, who is currently assisting police with ongoing inquiries.

The rescued teenagers are now in protective custody, and efforts are underway to trace and reunite them with their families. Authorities are continuing their investigations to determine whether the suspects are connected to a broader trafficking network, which could involve additional victims or accomplices.

Police Commissioner Issues Stern Warning

Dankombo Morris, the State Commissioner of Police, reiterated the command's zero-tolerance stance towards child trafficking, exploitation, and abuse of minors. He emphasized the need for parents and guardians to remain vigilant and thoroughly verify any employment or travel arrangements involving their children. This case serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by young people in search of economic opportunities.

The Adamawa police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to child trafficking or exploitation, reinforcing their commitment to safeguarding the welfare of minors across the state. This operation marks a significant step in the ongoing fight against human trafficking in Nigeria.
