DSS Denies Link to Ifeanyi Festus, Confirms Arrest of Officer Onyewuenyi
DSS Clarifies Alleged Abduction, Arrests Officer

The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a crucial clarification regarding recent disturbing reports of abduction and defilement, firmly distancing the agency from a named suspect while confirming the arrest of a separate officer for a different serious offence.

DSS Disowns Alleged Personnel in Minor's Case

In an official statement released on Saturday, January 10, 2026, the DSS categorically denied that an individual named Ifeanyi Festus is a member of its staff. The agency was responding to widespread media reports alleging that a DSS employee with that name was involved in the abduction and defilement of a minor, alongside accusations of abuse of office.

Favour Dozie, the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, stated clearly that the name "Ifeanyi Festus" does not appear on the Service's official staff register. "For clarity, the Service has no record of the above named in its employment," the statement read, urging the public to disregard the incorrect linkage.

Separate Arrest: Officer Investigated for Forceful Conversion

While disowning the suspect in the first case, the DSS confirmed a separate, ongoing investigation involving one of its own personnel. The agency revealed that a serving officer, Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi, has been arrested.

Onyewuenyi is suspected of the forceful conversion and marriage of a woman identified as Walida Abdulhadi. The DSS emphasized that this conduct, for which he is being probed, is a direct violation of the agency's strict internal regulations and code of conduct.

Investigation Outcomes to be Made Public

The DSS assured the public of its commitment to transparency and discipline within its ranks. The statement stressed that acts such as those alleged are completely against its foundational principles.

"It must be stressed that such acts are against our regulations and laid down code of conduct. As such, the outcome of the investigation will be made public," the service promised. The agency concluded by noting that further details on the Onyewuenyi case will be released upon the conclusion of the ongoing inquiry.
