A student of the University of Jos (UNIJOS), John Arum Azi, who was abducted ten days ago while traveling from Jos, Plateau State to Zaria, Kaduna State, has regained his freedom.

Details of the Abduction

Azi and six other passengers were traveling when assailants attacked their vehicle and abducted all of them. The incident sparked widespread concern, especially after a video surfaced online showing the student being assaulted by his captors while pleading for help. The footage intensified public outrage and calls for urgent action.

Ransom Negotiations

The abductors initially demanded a ransom of N30 million. However, after prolonged discussions, they reduced the amount to N6 million. The family reportedly raised the money through contributions from relatives and concerned members of the public. Despite the payment, the kidnappers allegedly insisted on an additional N4 million before releasing him. Eventually, the student was freed, and his release was confirmed by his family.
