Bandits Abduct Pastor's Son in Ondo Community Attack

Armed bandits have abducted a nine-year-old boy after invading Igbosi Community along Imeri Road, Idogun, in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, 5 June 2026, around 1:00 a.m., when the gunmen stormed the community with sporadic gunfire.

Attack Details

The assailants forced their way into the residence of Pastor Isaac Olaosebikan. The pastor managed to flee into the bush upon sighting the gunmen, but his son, Victor Olaosebikan, was seized by the kidnappers. During the operation, the gunmen also attempted to gain entry into other houses, causing damage to some buildings. They left the community around 2:30 p.m. unchallenged.

Security Response

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the attack and stated that an intensive manhunt has been launched. He said that upon receipt of the distress report, the Divisional Police Officer and his men, in collaboration with the Amotekun Corps, immediately mobilized to the scene and launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.

According to Jimoh, the incident was reported at about 2:30 a.m. by Mr. Olaosebikan Isaac and Mr. Joel Owalekan. The assailants fired gunshots sporadically, causing panic. Mr. Owalekan reported that his residence was unlawfully damaged while the gunmen attempted to gain entry. He also escaped by fleeing to safety.

Ongoing Investigation

Security operatives combed the surrounding forests and likely escape routes to rescue the abducted child and apprehend the perpetrators. Investigations have commenced, and relevant exhibits have been recovered and documented. The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed all tactical teams, intelligence units, and other security assets to intensify efforts toward the immediate rescue of the victim and the arrest of the perpetrators.

The command is working closely with other security agencies and local vigilante groups to ensure the criminals are brought to justice. Residents are urged to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies by providing any useful information that may aid investigations.
