In a decisive security operation, the Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended six individuals suspected of kidnapping and successfully liberated three abducted victims. The rescue mission, which unfolded in the Lafia East Development Area, marks a significant victory for local law enforcement and community vigilance.
Coordinated Raid Leads to Breakthrough
The operation was conducted on Friday, January 9, 2026, following actionable intelligence. Police forces, acting in concert with local vigilante groups, stormed identified criminal hideouts located in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages within the Lafia East Development Area of Lafia Local Government.
This collaborative assault resulted in the arrest of the six suspected kidnappers and the safe recovery of their captives. The rescued individuals comprised two females and one male, all of whom were found unharmed.
Timely Response to Abduction Reports
According to an official statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Nasarawa State, SP Ramhan Nansel, the operation was initiated after a formal complaint was lodged on January 7, 2026.
The report detailed that armed kidnappers had invaded Angara village, seizing two women and tragically leaving behind an infant. The criminals later returned to the same community to abduct a man.
Acting swiftly on this information, the Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, ordered an immediate manhunt for the perpetrators. This directive set in motion the tactical response that ultimately led to the successful outcome.
Investigation and Reassurance to the Public
The police confirmed that the rescued victims received prompt medical attention and have since been reunited with their relieved families. Meanwhile, the six suspects in custody have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crimes.
On the orders of CP Mohammed, the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive investigation and subsequent prosecution. This move, as stated by the PPRO, is intended to serve as a stern deterrent to others nursing criminal intentions.
Furthermore, Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed has reassured all residents of Nasarawa State of the command's unwavering commitment to confronting and dismantling all forms of criminal activity across the state's 13 local government areas.
