At least seven individuals have been confirmed dead after suspected terrorists launched a violent assault on two churches in the Ariko community, located within the Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The targeted churches were identified as the First ECWA Church and St. Augustine Catholic Church, both situated in Ariko. According to Mark Bawa, the councillor representing Awon Ward, which includes Ariko District, the attackers arrived in large numbers, surrounding the area and opening fire sporadically at the congregants. Bawa stated, "The attackers came in large numbers. They surrounded the area and began shooting sporadically at worshippers. Several people were killed, and many others were taken away into the bush." He added that he was en route to the community to verify the exact number of casualties, with initial reports varying between seven and eight fatalities.

Bawa highlighted that poor telecommunications coverage in the region may have facilitated the attack by delaying immediate emergency responses. "Poor telecommunications coverage in the area may have allowed the attackers to carry out the assault without immediate response," he explained.
