Two children abducted returning from school in Abia

Two children were abducted while returning from school in Abia State, with the incident occurring at Umuosu-Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa Local Government Area. The victims, identified as Eberechi, aged 4, and Abraham, aged 6, were taken by suspected kidnappers on Friday, June 26, 2026.

Details of the abduction

According to reports from the area, six schoolchildren were making their way home when heavy rain began. They flagged down a commercial tricycle, commonly known as a Keke, which was already carrying two women. The children asked the operator to drop them at a marketplace, from where they planned to walk to their respective homes.

Instead of stopping at the marketplace, the Keke operator drove past it and then claimed he had run out of fuel. He gave money to the four older children and instructed them to buy fuel. While they were away purchasing fuel, the tricycle operator sped off with the remaining two children and the two women, who are suspected to be his accomplices.
