The Commissioner of Police for the Ports Authority Police, Western Command, Mrs. Toyin Agbaminoja, has issued a strong directive to senior officers to enhance security vigilance across all port facilities. This charge was delivered during the command's final management conference for the year, held to assess performance and set the agenda for 2026.

Strengthening Ports Security for the New Year

Addressing Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Heads of Departments (HODs), Commissioner Agbaminoja emphasized the need for a proactive and alert stance to prevent criminal activities. She stated that the core objective is to safeguard critical national assets and ensure the safety of all port users, personnel, and the general public. The conference, which took place on 2 January 2026, served as a strategic platform to review the year's operations and strengthen leadership coordination.

According to a statement released by the command's Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Isaac Hundeyin, the Commissioner conducted a thorough assessment of the command's performance over the past year. She reviewed existing maritime security strategies and clearly outlined the operational priorities that will guide the Ports Authority Police throughout 2026.

Key Operational Directives for Officers

In her address to the conference, which was attended by Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners of Police, Agbaminoja laid out several critical mandates. She urged all officers to maintain strict discipline and reinforce intelligence-led policing methods. A significant focus was placed on enhancing collaboration with other security and port agencies to create a seamless security network.

The Commissioner also reaffirmed the command's zero-tolerance policy towards any form of unprofessional conduct. She reassured stakeholders and the Nigerian public of the command's unwavering commitment to securing the maritime domain and protecting the port environment, especially during the festive season and in the coming year.

Honoring Service and Welcoming New Leadership

A notable moment during the conference was the decoration of the Divisional Police Officer for the Roro Port Division, Mr. Francis Araunah. He was promoted to the substantive rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP). Commissioner Agbaminoja congratulated him, praising his dedication, professionalism, and consistent commitment to duty.

The command also held a valedictory session to honor the outgoing Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Ports Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Mrs. Amabua Ashe. Ashe has proceeded to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos. Agbaminoja commended her for her exceptional service, leadership, and contributions to boosting investigative and operational efficiency within the command.

Following this, the Commissioner formally welcomed the new Deputy Commissioner of Police for Ports CID, Mr. Folarin Adedeji. She urged him to build upon the existing foundations and further drive intelligence-driven investigations while promoting the highest standards of professionalism across the department.
