The statement rejected the notion that Olamilekan was dismissed for "speaking the truth" or criticizing political figures, instead citing "persistent and grave acts of indiscipline," including violations of the Armed Forces Social Media Policy. Unauthorized media appearances, misuse of military uniform, and partisan content creation were highlighted as clear breaches of regulations.
Transparent Salary and Allowance Systems Explained
In response to remuneration claims, the Army outlined its structured salary system based on rank and years of service, as per the Manual of Financial Administration for Armed Forces of Nigeria (MAFA). Personnel receive consolidated monthly salaries, uniform allowances, and other entitlements directly into their accounts. Additionally, soldiers on deployments benefit from Ration Cash Allowance, Habit Allowance, free feeding, and operational allowances, particularly in missions like Operation HADIN KAI in the North East.
