NSCDC Deploys 3,206 Officers for Easter Security in Lagos and Delta States

As Christians across Nigeria prepare to celebrate Easter, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken proactive measures to ensure public safety in Lagos and Delta states. The Corps has deployed a total of 3,206 officers to these regions, aiming to provide comprehensive security coverage during the festive period.

Lagos State Command's Strategic Deployment

In Lagos State, Commandant Adedotun Keshinro has overseen the deployment of 2,250 personnel. These officers have been strategically positioned at worship centres, recreation parks, and other critical locations to safeguard citizens and protect vital national assets and infrastructure. Keshinro emphasized that this move is part of a broader effort to enhance security across all economic sectors in the state.

Addressing management staff, area commanders, and tactical teams at the Command's headquarters in Alausa, Keshinro outlined reinvigorated operational strategies designed to combat criminal activities. He highlighted the need to eradicate vandalism and other nefarious acts that could threaten the state's economic growth, particularly before, during, and after the Easter celebrations.

The Lagos Command is also collaborating with other security agencies to achieve optimal success. Keshinro urged his officers to employ robust intelligence gathering, intensive patrols, and special response units like the Special Female Squad and Quick Intervention Squad. He reassured residents that the Corps would not rest on its oars, deploying both physical and non-physical assets to ensure holistic security.

In a message to the Christian community, Keshinro congratulated the faithful and encouraged them to embrace the season's tenets, such as love, forgiveness, and compassion.

Delta State Command's Swift Response Strategy

Similarly, in Delta State, Commandant Igbo Chinedu has deployed 956 personnel as part of a "swift response" strategy. This deployment targets identified blackspots and flashpoints across the state, with a focus on securing public spaces, critical infrastructure, and communities that often experience increased criminal activity during holidays.

Chinedu stressed the importance of professionalism and operational discipline during a pre-deployment briefing. He urged officers to go beyond routine patrols by aligning intelligence with proactive action, particularly in protecting critical national assets. This is especially crucial in Delta, where oil facilities and public utilities are frequent targets of vandalism.

Expressing confidence in the Corps' preparedness, Chinedu assured residents of a crime-free Easter celebration. He emphasized inter-agency collaboration, noting that NSCDC personnel would work in synergy with other security outfits. Chinedu also urged residents to "celebrate without fear," as all hot spots are fully manned by the deployed personnel.

The combined efforts in Lagos and Delta states underscore the NSCDC's commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all during the Easter festivities, with a strong focus on protecting critical infrastructure and fostering public trust.
