The National Security Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Nuhu Ribadu, has commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for his effective handling of the security situation in the state. Ribadu made this known after a meeting with President Tinubu and discussions with the families of the 46 pupils and teachers abducted in Oyo State.
Approval of Forest Guards
Ribadu disclosed that President Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in collaboration with the Oyo State Government. This initiative is part of renewed efforts to strengthen security in the state, particularly in forested corridors often used as hideouts by criminal groups.
Federal and State Collaboration
The National Security Adviser emphasized that the federal government is working closely with the state government to respond to the abduction incident and improve security in vulnerable areas. He noted that the President has already given the green light for the recruitment of forest guards to support security operations in forested regions.
Ribadu also acknowledged the efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde, stating, “We also acknowledge Governor Seyi Makinde. He’s doing well.” The remarks come as authorities continue efforts to secure the release of the abducted pupils and teachers, while security agencies intensify operations across affected areas in Oyo State.
