Adamawa Police Bolster Community Ties with National Police Day Walkathon
The Nigeria Police Force in Adamawa State has intensified its community engagement efforts as part of the 2026 National Police Day celebrations, with Commissioner of Police Kabir Umar Hassan calling on personnel to demonstrate unwavering professionalism and commitment in their duties.
Symbolic Walkathon Promotes Unity and Security
Speaking on Tuesday in Yola, the state capital, Commissioner Hassan addressed officers and men of the command, urging them to embrace exemplary policing standards. The celebration, themed "Together We Walk, Together We Secure," featured a symbolic Police Day Walkathon where officers marched peacefully through major streets of Yola. This public display aimed to promote unity, discipline, and stronger ties between law enforcement and the community.
Following the walkathon, Hassan commended officers for their resilience and dedication, noting that their conduct reflects a readiness to confront prevailing security challenges across Adamawa State. He emphasized the importance of leading by example to inspire public confidence and attract future recruits into the force.
Core Mandate and Community Outreach Initiatives
The commissioner reminded personnel that their core mandate remains the protection of lives and property, urging them to remain focused, disciplined, and service-oriented at all times. The week-long celebration commenced with a sanitation exercise led by Hassan, during which officers participated in cleaning parts of the Yola metropolis.
Additionally, the command undertook community outreach initiatives, including visits to the sick and vulnerable, reinforcing its commitment to public service beyond traditional policing roles. These activities are designed to strengthen community engagement and enhance trust between the police and the citizens they serve.
Ongoing Programs and Future Engagement
According to Commissioner Hassan, activities marking the 2026 National Police Day are expected to continue throughout the week, with more programs aimed at fostering stronger community-police relationships. This initiative underscores the force's dedication to proactive engagement and collaborative security efforts in Adamawa State.
