Delta Police Prosecute 68 Traffic Offenders in Mobile Court Crackdown
The Delta State Police Command, in a coordinated effort with seven designated judges and magistrates, has successfully prosecuted 68 individuals for various traffic offences across mobile courts located in Warri, Asaba, and Okwe. This initiative is part of an intensified operation aimed at curbing the rising incidence of traffic infractions and significantly improving public safety throughout the state.

According to the Command's Spokesperson, Bright Edafe, the offenders were apprehended for a wide range of violations that compromise road safety. These included the misuse of number plates, driving against traffic, obstruction of roadways, and failure to carry valid driving licences. A detailed breakdown of the prosecutions reveals that 15 motorists were charged for driving without proper vehicle registration numbers, another 15 faced charges for road obstruction, and 13 were prosecuted for using covered number plates. Authorities have linked these particular offences to potential criminal activities and attempts to evade security checkpoints, highlighting the serious nature of such violations.
Edafe further explained that 11 offenders were cited for driving without valid licences, while smaller numbers were charged for additional infractions such as driving against traffic, illegal use of sirens, and the use of unauthorised number plates. All 68 offenders have been fined in accordance with the Delta State Traffic Management Law and the National Road Traffic Regulations, underscoring the legal framework supporting these enforcement actions.
