The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially published the full list of required documents and items for candidates participating in the ongoing 2026 Police constable screening exercise. This announcement, made public on February 26, 2026, outlines strict compliance measures to ensure a smooth and transparent recruitment process.
Mandatory Dress Code and Screening Venues
All applicants must adhere to a specific dress code, appearing at their designated screening centres dressed entirely in white. This includes white canvas shoes, white T-shirts, white shorts, and white stockings. The screening will take place at approved venues as specified on each applicant's invitation slip, with candidates expected to follow all instructions meticulously to avoid disqualification.
Essential Documents and Items for Submission
The NPF has provided a detailed checklist of documents and items that candidates must bring to the screening venue. These include:
- Guarantors Form
- Application Submission Slip
- Invitation Slip
- Credentials Screening Form
- Physical Screening Form
In addition, candidates must present the following items:
- Invitation Slip (showing assigned table)
- Credentials Screening Form
- Original National Identity Number (NIN) printout or NIMC-issued card
- O' Level (GCE/SSCE) Certificate
- Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age
- Local Government/State of Origin Certificate
- Trade Test/Certificate (for specialist applicants only)
- Duly completed and signed Guarantors Form, with photocopies and passport photographs of referees attached
- Original and duplicate copies of credentials, neatly arranged in two separate white flat files with recent passport photographs attached
Background on the Recruitment Drive
This screening exercise is part of a broader initiative to recruit 50,000 constables into the Nigeria Police Force, as announced by the federal government. The physical and credential screening is scheduled to take place between March 9 and April 18, 2026. Police Service Commission chairman, Hashimu Salihu Argungu, has reaffirmed that the recruitment exercise is free of charge and issued warnings against fraudsters targeting applicants.
PSC spokesman, Torty Njoku Kalu, has directed successful applicants to the recruitment portal and screening centres nationwide. The recruitment portal opened on December 15, 2025, and will close on January 25, 2026, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's directive to boost internal security and police manpower.
