First Bank MD Receives Live Bullets at Lagos Residence

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, has confirmed that the Managing Director of First Bank of Nigeria, Oluwasegun Alebiosu, received an envelope containing two live bullets at his residence in May 2026. The revelation came during a press briefing on June 23, 2026, where Fatai detailed the incident and the ongoing police investigation.

Envelope Delivered by Dispatch Rider

According to CP Fatai, the package was delivered by a dispatch rider and initially received by security personnel at Alebiosu's residence. The envelope was addressed directly to the First Bank MD and marked as confidential, prompting the guards to hand it over to him. Upon opening the parcel, Alebiosu discovered two live 7.62mm ammunition rounds concealed inside, with no accompanying letter, message, or any identifying information about the sender.

Police Investigation Underway

Fatai stated that the matter was reported on May 7, 2026, and police immediately launched an investigation. He described the case as serious and emphasized the need for thorough inquiry. “Presently, I can confirm to you that the matter is still under investigation. It's a serious case. And I think the investigation needs to be more thorough. So, we are still on the investigation of that matter,” Fatai said in a video that circulated online.
