Nigerian social media influencer Emmanuel Obruste, widely known as GehGeh, has strongly criticized Nigerian youths and the police for their handling of bad governance and insecurity in the country. He shared his views in a post on X, drawing a comparison between the behavior of citizens in South Africa and those in Nigeria.
Comparison with South Africa
GehGeh noted that South African citizens and their security agencies collaborate more effectively to address national problems than their Nigerian counterparts. He emphasized that the synergy between the public and law enforcement in South Africa leads to better outcomes in tackling challenges.
Criticism of Nigerian Police
The influencer also accused the Nigerian police of wasting time pursuing internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo boys, and lifestyle workers, instead of focusing on major security threats. He argued that this misallocation of resources undermines efforts to combat serious crimes and insecurity.
Youths Not Ready for Change
GehGeh further stated that Nigerian youths are not prepared to stand up against corrupt politicians or demand meaningful change in the country. He expressed disappointment in their lack of readiness to take back the nation from what he termed evil politicians.
In his post, GehGeh wrote: “See how South African people came out to carry out a mission and their government supported them on the low. You see their police force supporting them, too. But here in Nigeria, our police are looking for yahoo boys and private Chef girls, and the youths are not even ready to stand up to take back their country from these evil politicians.”
