The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing national security by providing sustained operational support to security agencies in Lagos and across Nigeria. The pledge was made by the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, during a visit by commanders of the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, NNS Beecroft of the Nigerian Navy, and the 651 Base Services Group of the Nigerian Air Force at the Fund's headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja.
Equipment Donation
During the event, the LSSTF donated 50 bulletproof vests and 50 ballistic helmets each to the three military formations. The equipment was received by Brigadier General Ayokunle Olufemi Owolabi of the 9 Brigade, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu of NNS Beecroft, and Air Commodore Mohammed Imam of the 651 Base Services Group.
Commitment to Security
Dr. Ogunsan emphasized that security is crucial for peace, prosperity, and development. He stated that a nation's strength depends not only on weapons but also on the collective efforts of institutions, citizens, and strategic partners. He praised the military commanders for their sacrifices in maintaining peace and assured them of continued support from the LSSTF. “Whatever it requires to ensure that Lagos stays safe, we will continue to provide that support accordingly,” he said.
New Office Complex
Ogunsan also announced that the new LSSTF office complex, expected to be completed in October, will further strengthen collaboration with security agencies. He described the facility as a “second office” for the armed forces in Lagos and assured that requests from the Lagos State Security Council and other operational needs would be promptly addressed.
Military Response
Responding on behalf of the service commanders, Brigadier General Owolabi thanked the Lagos State Government and LSSTF for their unwavering support. He said the donation would boost ongoing security operations and assured residents that the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force would continue to work together to sustain peace and strengthen security across Lagos. The commanders described the donation as timely and impactful, supporting operations within Lagos and beyond.
